Beowulf prologue

Inspired by a recent dream. Or maybe nightmare.

We left the child. We’d been sent back into the great hall - I don’t remember what for. Time erases the important things from out one’s mind, leaving only the small details. I remember the stones of the floor. Dark gray and slick with moisture. (more…)

Even annoying people can be useful

Been watching the food network a lot lately. The women tend to be blond waspy Martha Stewart clones that I want to sucker punch on general principal, and Wolgang Puck is almost as annoying, but I really like Emeril. He’s funny. I learn stuff watching him. Hell, I even learn stuff from the Martha clones. And there’s always the Sci-Fi network and FX (land of the never ending Buffy and Mash re-runs) when I get bored learning how to deep fry a turkey (which I don’t think I’ll ever actually do) or make gravy from scratch (more tempting).

Happy New Year’s… whoohoo

Another year came and went. I had a very nice, quiet New Years with no alcohol and no unplesantness. And no one’s bathroom got desecrated via alcohol poisioning. Maybe I’m getting old, but I liked it.
