Now we’ve got rumors of PS8 coming out in late 2003. As if I’m not going nuts enough waiting for the next Harry Potter book, Return of the King, Daredevil, Hulk…. Sheesh.
More rumors and speculation at Macmerc, and AllOSX, and an article that was pulled at Think Secret. The quick article removal is reminiscent of the blink and it’s gone preview information that was around for PS7.
Do not buy the newspaper from Borders when the need for newsprint strikes - go to the 7-11 down the road. Why? ‘Cause when I go to the 7-11 I know I’ll be buying the whole newspaper and the section I actually need will be included with it. I’d forgotten that the customers in the Borders cafe are uncooth and have a habit of randomly removing sections from the papers, putting the rest back on the shelf, and walking off with just the pages they want. I’ve watched it happen. I really should have known better.
As an aside, it’s hard to retain any faith in the world at large when people are too cheap to pay 35 freakin’ cents for a paper they are going to use, abuse, and cannibalize.
Flame Warriors. Frightfully true to life, and well illustrated to boot.
Merripestin has a great rant on profanity and why it shouldn’t be done away with.
Not so much because it’s a current meme, but because I’m not an actor and will *never* be on actors studio, but would love to get interviewed by James Lipton someday, here’s my take on the actor’s studio interview meme:

Getting the feeling that I’m going to have to do an OS reinstall in the near future. Bleah. Getting way too many glitches and crashes of late…. time to start making backups.
Meanwhile, Jintian has the following museing about easy updates:
When I used Netscape Composer to make my webpages, I used to make updates and changes practically every other day. I was downright twitchy about it, because it was just so easy to get in there and make a stupid nitpicky little correction or fiddle with a random color that was just going to get fiddled right back the next week. Since I’ve switched to coding all by hand, however, it’s a miracle if I can get my lazy ass to make an update even once a month.
Funny - I’m just the opposite. Now that the site is all done by hand, I’m nit-picky about everything.
The Evil Overlord’s Guide to Sunnydale I love the SunS - they just keep putting out great stuff.
My net connection’s been crapping out at random intervals most of the day. Makes getting any real work done…. aggravating.
And watching the last two episiodes of BoP, I’ve come to the realization that it’s just not getting any better. I had hope. Lots of hope. I looked and *looked* for shreds of the Gotham I knew and loved in this revamped girl-friendly show. It was almost there, but I think it drowned in cheap mutant of the week cliches.
Sometimes a coincidence just happens. My boss didn’t need me to come in today. Ok, so I have a three day weekend. Not to bad (though I’m still putting off doing the dishes) but there’s still the lingering guilt over not doing something more… productive. Then I look out the window this moringing and see… snow. And sleet. And now possibly freezing rain. All of which I *do not* have to go out driving in. I’ve got me a genuine snow day. Doesn’t feel too bad.
The only downside? My internal day of the week meter is all screwey, between this and the holidays. Yesterday felt like a monday, and today feels like a saturday. God only knows what I’m going to wake up thinking tomorrow is.
Oof. The sleet’s shifting back to snow. Nothing’s getting me out of the house now.
Ok, so I accept that it would be (marginally) easier to find acceptable webdev software for the OSX box at work if I had something better than a dial up with which to hunt the internet wilds, but I’m still mighty grumpy that neither CuteFtp nor HomeSite have Mac versions. And with Macromedia owning Homesite now, you’d think they’d port it, but no.
So I’m playing around with Fetch and BBEdit. (I will not use Dreamweaver - too much of a pain.) Not great, but it could suck more. Of course, I’m a great one for comfort items. Comfort food, comfort books… things that make the unfamiliar safe. Software falls into the same category now.
