The site’s gonna look a little halfassed for the next few days. I’m tweaking around with comicpress and (for reasons unknown, even to me) will be doing it live. So yeah, pardon the appearance.

  • Looks like it’s a drink lots of tea to stay warm kinda day #
  • For some reason, Firefox’s PDF viewer borks the alt-F4 close window command. #smallannoyance #
  • Will is sending co-workers down to me with brownies.  #
  • Signal boost: Apparently trolls are making allegations of child porn and using phishing to disrupt Dreamwidth. #
  • Note to self: The local deli makes a very runny over easy egg. When placed on a roll, more yolk winds up on my hands than in the roll.  #
  • But it was still yummy. #
  • RT @snipeyhead ZOMG! Kali Ma Shakti de! want want wanty want want. #
  • I’m thinking about killing my Flickr & deviant art accounts – the hassle of multiple updates is starting to outweigh any benefits. #
  • Signal boost: more info on the DW situation #
  • To do this weekend: Recover from party tonight. Finish DF updates. Begin CS redesign so I can start posting art again. Finish more art. #
  • It’s not a party until I’m bleeding. Fuck. (sliced finger while dicing veggies) #

Oh, look what I found. I needed a laugh today.

Looking for someone to set-up a rather simple web site

Simple is as simple does, you know. And client!simple almost never corresponds to actually!simple.

and then train me on how to update it

Oh dear. I did that for a client once. It ended poorly. Sometimes i even think about sending them bags of flaming poop.

have the domain names already and quite honestly COULD do it myself, no time as I am in start-up and have other demands upon my time

This is always a bad sign. Clients who think they can do what they’re hiring you to do almost never value your work appropriately. Either they can do the work and really are that lazy (and will probably nitpick you to death) or can’t do it but think they can, leading to the land of unrealistic requests (because it’s so easy, you know). And “in startup”? Er, no. It sounds like he’s got a “great” idea and nothing else.

probably take a true pro less than an hour with a 15 minute break for coffee

So anyone who takes longer than an hour on your incredibly vague, undefined project is not a pro. Really. I do assume you have all the images and copy ready to go, and just need a code monkey to lay it out, right? No forms or interactivity at all, yes?

Yup. Laughing now. Also, it’s good to remember why I don’t do much freelance anymore. (And thank $deity that I don’t have to.)

  • Am considering switching the site theme to Comicpress, just for fun. Because I am not doing enough right now. #
  • Why must I get these “why not” ideas when I have no time and less energy? #
  • Crap. Site got hacked. Did not expect to spend the night fighting with wordpress.  #
  • Managed to recover better than 99% of my content last night. Will now be using backup plugins like a good girl. #wordpress #
  • Getting back to wrapping my head around the comicpress migration. I think it’s a good fit for how/what I’m blogging now. #
  • Ok, screw getting anything done this week. I’ll get up early on Sat and work on stuff. Right now is for (more) coughing and a new book.  #
  • I will always find the simple solution last. #

  • The older I get, the less interested I become in flavored coffee #
  • Have managed to spend the entire new year’s holiday sick as a dog. But no one I love’s been laid off, so still better than last year.  #
